"I can't thank you enough. Your web site is such an incredible resource. I only wish I had found it earlier..."

Irene A.

"I have to say that I am most impressed with your site. As I told you I had "googled" and "yahooed" for this information but found nothing that compared to your database... My search was becoming very stressful and I wish to thank you for relieving that stress."

Janet S.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Schedule an appointment by leaving a message on my office voice mail (314)275-2500, calling or texting my cell phone (314)570 7169, or sending me an e-mail at SMSchaper@AOL.com.

My goal is to help people be the best that they can be.

I have over 30 years experience working with people in all stages of life.  I love to help clients process what is going on in their lives and find a way to move forward.

Life can be hard.  A listening ear and a non-judgemental place to process can make all the difference in the world as we face difficult situations and times in our lives.

Balance in life helps.  Body, Mind, Spirit working together is an achievable goal.

Marital/couple therapy: 20 years experience working with couples.  In 2009 I was cerified as a trainer for Dynamic Marriage Workshops and have been privileged to help couples by using Willard Harley's books including His Needs, Her Needs.

Children/Adolescents: 30 years working with children and adolescents.  I have a heart for the young in our society today and feel privileged to be part of their lives as they are faced with hurts and trials and significant decisions on a daily basis.

Family Counseling: 30 years experience.  Received Certification in Family and Marriage Counseling from The Family Therapy Institute of Cincinnati in the 1980s.  I see the parents as the architects of the family and the primary influence in the lives of their children.

Critical Incident Stress Debriefings: 10 years experience of helping employers when there is a tragedy or a major transition taking place in their place of business.  Again processing what has happened or what is going to happen in helpful in getting individuals and groups back to homeostasis.

Eating Disorders: 25 years experience working with women and men, young and middle aged who are struggling with their relationship to food.  Sometimes eating or not eating becomes part of ones way to manage emotions.  My goal is to help people find other ways.

Abuse/Neglect: 30 years of seeing the scars abuse and neglect can leave on a person.  In the 1980's while living in Indianapolis, I served as Director of the Family Growth Treatment Center for sexually abused children and their families, Director of Child Protection Services, and Director of Child Welfare.  I prefer working with individuals and families to get past the pain involved in abuse and neglect.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with an MSW degree from indiana University.  I also have a MAR (Masters of Arts in Religion) from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.  I am a Christian.
