"I can't thank you enough. Your web site is such an incredible resource. I only wish I had found it earlier..."

Irene A.

"I have to say that I am most impressed with your site. As I told you I had "googled" and "yahooed" for this information but found nothing that compared to your database... My search was becoming very stressful and I wish to thank you for relieving that stress."

Janet S.

Personal:
I was born in England. My mother was a writer, my father, a film- maker. I have previously worked in film and television production (for the BBC), education, ocean fishing and Outward Bound leadership. I have lived and worked in France, Spain, Switzerland and Italy, as well as the UK and USA. I live with my wife, a clinical social worker, and our high school-aged twins.

Professional Experience and Philosophy:
I am a seasoned and broadly trained licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years in the field of human services. I have worked in hospital inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings and have consulted to schools, courts and organizations. I have supervised and trained psychologists and social workers.

My treatment orientation is pluralistic. It is especially informed by ecological, bio-psycho-social, systemic, cognitive-interpersonal, developmental, psychodyamic and existential perspectives. I believe that core trans-theoretical healing factors such as the therapeutic relationship and the instillation of hope are central to effective therapy. I work with my clients to identify their strengths and potential for growth; I see these as the essential resources that people bring to their work with me.

Publications:
What on Earth is Ecopsychology? A paper published simultaneously in both the Massachusetts Psychological Association Quarterly and in the Quaker Journal, Peacework, in October, 1994.

Ecological worldviews: An exploratory study of the narratives of environmental studies students or, Hearts and minds: Knowing our place in the world.  A doctoral dissertation published by U.M.I., in 1992.

Ecological Identity: Becoming a Reflective Environmentalist. Mitch Thomashow's reference to my work.

Telephone Inquiries Welcome:
I am happy to talk with prospective clients on the telephone at no charge to discuss my services and their needs in more detail.
